§ Why we train

Values & Christian Philosophy

We don't train to hit others. We train to protect who we love, to develop discipline and character, and to glorify God with our bodies.

Self-control

"Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city." — Proverbs 16:32

The hardest fruit of the Spirit to develop, according to Galatians 5:22-23. Whoever loses control loses the fight, on the mat and in life.

Wise sheep

"Be as wary as snakes and as innocent as doves." — Matthew 10:16

Peaceful by choice, not by weakness: able to defend, but choosing peace and protecting the flock when it matters.

Precision

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." — Ecclesiastes 3:1

Acting at the exact moment, by the most direct path. No wasted movement, no hesitation once it's time to act.

The body as temple

"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit?" — 1 Corinthians 6:19

Training is a way of caring for the temple: physical discipline that reflects spiritual discipline, never a tool to destroy others.

Practitioner's Commitment

  • — Use these skills only for legitimate defense
  • — Seek peace whenever possible
  • — Protect the weaker
  • — Treat training partners with respect
  • — Give glory to God in every training session

Lord, make me a warrior who fights for peace. Let my hands be trained to defend, not destroy. Let my self-control outlast any technique. And in the end, let me hear: "Well done, good and faithful servant." In Jesus' name, amen.
